illow's New Transparency Standards Shift the Tides of Real Estate
In a groundbreaking move, Zillow is rewriting the rules for listing transparency in real estate. The company has introduced new standards that require listings marketed to any buyer to be available to every buyer, effectively ending the practice of hiding homes from public view.
eXp Realty, a leading brokerage and vocal advocate for transparency, is the first to join forces with Zillow, committing to post listings in the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) within 24 hours of marketing them to consumers. This means that eXp listings will be accessible on Zillow and other platforms that receive MLS feeds, giving buyers unparalleled access to property information.
Zillow's new standards are designed to implement the National Association of Realtors' Clear Cooperation policy on its platform. The policy requires that any listing publicly marketed to buyers must also be in the MLS and published on Zillow and other sites that receive MLS feeds. Listings that don't meet these standards will not be published on Zillow or Trulia for the duration of the listing.
"This is a major step forward for consumer access and transparency in real estate," said Errol Samuelson, chief industry development officer at Zillow. "When all buyers have equal access to listings, it builds trust and strengthens the market."
eXp Realty's CEO, Leo Pareja, echoed this sentiment, stating that his company is committed to giving clients the most transparent and comprehensive access to property listings. "Our partnership with Zillow ensures that every eXp Realty listing has maximum visibility, creating a more efficient, trustworthy, and open marketplace," he said.
Zillow encourages other industry leaders to follow suit, prioritizing transparency and access for all consumers and agents. By doing so, the company aims to create a level playing field where buyers can easily find and purchase homes, and sellers can reach their target audience with ease.
