Nordstrom Rack, the discount concept of Seattle-based retailer Nordstrom, has signed a lease for 22,000 square feet in Wellington, Florida. The new store is scheduled to open in spring 2027 at The Shoppes at Isla Verde, located at 800-1020 South State Road 7, the retailer announced on Thursday.
Terms of the lease were not disclosed. MetLife Investment Management owns the shopping centre, while Urban Retail Properties manages the property. MetLife acquired the 207,000 square foot property in 2018 for USD 73.75 million, according to records.
The retail environment at The Shoppes at Isla Verde
The Shoppes at Isla Verde has seen some tenant changes in recent years. A Joann Fabrics store closed in 2025 as the retailer ceased operations. According to bankruptcy filings, Joann Fabrics had occupied a 21,600 square foot space in the shopping centre since 2008. Another departure was organic grocer Sprouts, which closed its store at The Shoppes at Isla Verde in 2023.
The new establishment of Nordstrom Rack represents a strengthening of the tenant mix. Nordstrom Rack's assortment includes competitively priced clothing, accessories, beauty products, home decor items, and shoes. Nordstrom stated that it currently operates 23 Nordstrom Rack stores in Florida. Locations in Palm Beach County include stores in Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach, Delray Beach, and Boca Raton.
Existing tenants and offering
Other tenants at The Shoppes at Isla Verde include established brands such as Best Buy, Homesense, Total Wine & More, Petco, Old Navy, Ulta, and Rack Room Shoes. This variety of retail outlets contributes to the location's appeal for customers and offers a wide range of products and services. The arrival of Nordstrom Rack complements the existing offering with its discount concept in fashion and lifestyle.
