A participation agreement for the development of the Garbsen Technology Park has been concluded between the Hanover Region, the City of Garbsen and Munich's asto group. This step aims to create forward-looking prospects for the fields of science and business. The contractual arrangements were signed by Ekkehart Fabian and Thorben Fabian for ONE TechCampus Garbsen GmbH & Co. KG, and by Gordon Hünies for Technologiepark Region Hannover GmbH ('techfactory') at the Real Estate Arena trade fair in Hanover.
Techfactory, which was specifically founded by the Hanover Region for this purpose, will play a significant role as an anchor tenant on the planned campus. In the first construction phase, approximately 4,600 square metres of space are earmarked for offices, workshops and event rooms. These units are primarily designed for start-ups and spin-offs, including those from the Leibniz University environment.
By signing the agreement, techfactory secures active involvement in the overall project and the option to participate in further construction phases. ONE TechCampus Garbsen GmbH & Co. KG plans to commence construction of a first building on the mechanical engineering campus in Garbsen later this year. This extensive area is expected to accommodate offices, laboratories and production facilities for high-tech companies and research institutions across approximately 62,000 square metres. Additionally, premises for student accommodation are planned within this development.
Completion and techfactory's move-in are targeted for mid-2028. The parties involved emphasise that this agreement represents a crucial step towards the realisation of the technology park. The cooperation between the various stakeholders is now to be progressively filled with substance to achieve the stated goals.
The Garbsen location benefits from this development through the creation of a new centre for innovation and research, which is intended to attract both established companies and new ventures. The project also underlines the Hanover Region's efforts to further consolidate and expand the link between science and applied research with the local economy.
