Real I.S., as BayernLB's fund service provider specialising in real estate investments, has agreed a hotel lease with Leonardo Hotels for the property formerly known as IntercityHotel Hannover Hauptbahnhof Ost. The global law firm DLA Piper advised Real I.S. on this transaction. The advice was provided by a core team led by Counsel Markus Kotowski and Partner Lars Reubekeul, as well as Associate David Schmalstieg, all from the Real Estate practice in Munich.
The hotel will operate under the name Leonardo Hannover City Center in the future. The takeover of operations by Leonardo Hotels is scheduled for 1st October 2026. With this addition, Leonardo Hotels expands its portfolio in the state capital of Lower Saxony. Following this new acquisition, the hotel group will have a total of four locations in Hanover.
Location and Facilities of the Property
The building in question comprises 14 storeys and is situated directly on the east side of Hanover Central Station. It features 220 rooms, which are equipped to current standards. The hotel's culinary offerings include a restaurant, an outdoor terrace, and a bar. A total of five conference rooms are available for meetings and events, three of which can be flexibly connected.
The hotel's city centre location and its versatile offerings target business travellers, conference guests, and individual tourists. This strengthens Leonardo Hotels' existing market presence in Hanover. With this successful re-letting, Real I.S. is implementing a prompt change of operator, following the insolvency filing of the previous operator, Revo Hospitality Group. Real I.S.'s proactive approach ensures the long-term utilisation of this attractive location.
Real I.S. possesses extensive expertise in real estate investments and has been involved in the management of hotel properties for over a decade. This current transaction underscores the company's ability to secure attractive locations and open up new long-term prospects, even under challenging circumstances.
