REBA IMMOBILIEN AG has participated in the Green Ocean Zanzibar boutique hotel project on the island of Zanzibar, Tanzania. Through this step, the company strengthens its presence in the field of sustainable hotel and holiday properties on an international level. The resort is located in Jambiani, on Zanzibar's tranquil southeast coast, a region known for its expansive, palm-fringed beaches and its natural atmosphere. This location, away from more frequented coastal sections, allows guests to experience the island in its original state.
Zanzibar, an archipelago in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Africa, is politically part of Tanzania. The archipelago comprises the main islands of Unguja, which is often referred to as Zanzibar itself, and Pemba, as well as other smaller islands. Zanzibar is known for its white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and diverse coral reefs. Unguja is also home to the historic capital Stone Town, whose Arab-influenced architecture, winding alleys, and markets form the cultural and historical centre. The island state has its own government and parliament but is subject to the central government of Tanzania in aspects such as foreign policy and defence.
Concept and Strategic Direction
Green Ocean Zanzibar is a boutique hotel concept developed by Melanie Sitter. The resort integrates sustainable construction, individual architecture, and wellness offerings. It targets individual travellers, couples, and those interested in yoga and wellness programmes. Furthermore, it is designed as a retreat for location-independent professionals. REBA IMMOBILIEN AG anticipates significant tourist growth potential in Zanzibar. The island is considered an emerging market in the East African tourism sector and has seen an increase in international visitor numbers for several years.
René Reimann, CEO of REBA IMMOBILIEN AG, commented on the participation, stating that the investment in Green Ocean Zanzibar is specifically directed towards a sustainable hospitality concept with authentic positioning and high demand in the boutique segment. Holger Ballwanz, CEO of Hotel Investments AG, added that the project combines tourist appeal with responsible development. As part of the cooperation, further development of the existing resort, the creation of additional residential units, and the expansion of the retreat and wellness offerings are planned. Simultaneously, local value creation and sustainable structures on site are to be promoted.
Melanie Sitter will remain operationally active and will strategically develop the hotel concept further together with REBA IMMOBILIEN AG and Hotel Investments AG. The collaboration aims to establish Green Ocean Zanzibar as a sustainable travel destination that offers authentic insights into island life while considering the protection of the natural environment.
