The Heisman organisation, responsible for awarding the most prestigious individual accolade in US college football, is relocating within Lower Manhattan. As landlord Silverstein Properties announced, Heisman has signed a ten-year lease for 5,000 square feet in the building at 120 Broadway. The new premises on the 13th floor of the historic high-rise are scheduled for occupation in 2027.
Contract terms and display of the sports trophy
Silverstein Properties did not disclose asking rents for the listed property. According to data from a CBRE market report, the average asking rent for office space in Lower Manhattan stood at 62.40 US dollars per square foot in the third quarter of 2026. A distinctive feature of the agreement concerns the public display of the Heisman Trophy: Heisman is contractually committed to exhibiting one copy of the sculpture in the building's lobby and another on the tenth-floor amenity and communal space.
Jeff Price, Chief Executive Officer of Heisman, emphasised in a statement that the organisation was ushering in a new era in which traditional values are respected whilst targeted innovations are pursued. Against this background, the historic yet modern building at 120 Broadway provides an appropriate setting for the team, while football fans will have the opportunity to view the trophy up close.
Relocation within the Financial District
Heisman is moving from its previous location in the neighbouring building at 111 Broadway. Joe Artusa of Silverstein Properties and Erik Harris from brokerage firm Newmark acted on behalf of the owner. Michael Norris of Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant Heisman.
Built in 1915, the Equitable Building at 120 Broadway is home to occupants from various sectors. Only in April this year, artificial intelligence-focused cybersecurity firm Adaptive Security secured a sublease of 51,220 square feet previously leased by subscription service provider BarkBox.
