Teresa Minnick of Christie’s International Real Estate Group is a leading broker in the “Garden State” of New Jersey. Her career spans over 25 years and includes sales volumes exceeding US$800 million. Minnick has achieved numerous successes throughout her career, including her involvement in the transformation of Asbury Park and the luxury condominium project Atlantic Club Residences in Long Branch.
Her main focus continues to be the Jersey Shore, where she states she finds peace in the “history, architecture, and charm” as well as in the beautiful seaside homes. Commercial Observer spoke with Minnick in early September as part of its “Get to Know the Broker” series, which profiles residential real estate brokers to understand their drive and factors of success.
Career Highlights and Inspiration
When asked about the biggest deal of her career, Teresa Minnick cited the Atlantic Club Residences — a groundbreaking development of 132 luxury oceanfront residences in Long Branch, N.J., with current sales of approximately US$200 million. She described involvement in a project of this magnitude, from the pre-construction phase to the creation of an exceptional new coastal community, as an incredible experience.
Minnick referred to her involvement in the transformation of Asbury Park during the real estate crisis as her “career Mount Everest.” She had the opportunity to work with visionaries who believed in the revitalisation of the “City by the Sea” at a time when many did not yet recognise its potential. Witnessing this vision become reality and knowing her own role in it remains one of the most rewarding chapters of her career.
Her greatest influences were mentors such as Carol Blasucci, Lee Bossie (“Aunt Gigi”), and Al Garfall, formerly of SGS Communities and D.R. Horton, and currently with Lennar. Al Garfall significantly shaped Minnick’s approach to the real estate business. Together, her mentors taught her much about sales, relationships, perseverance, and, especially important, the ability to believe in a vision before others can recognise it.
Personal Insights and Preferences
- —Minnick’s favourite architects are Warren & Wetmore, the architectural firm behind Asbury Park’s iconic Paramount Theatre, the Grand Arcade, and the Convention Hall. Built between 1928 and 1930, these complexes combine Beaux-Arts architecture with Italian-French and maritime influences. She appreciates their history, grandeur, connection to the ocean, and their significance in Asbury Park’s remarkable resurgence.
- —Anecdotes from her time in Asbury Park include encounters with personalities such as Southside Johnny, Clarence Clemons, Hugh Jackman, and Bruce Springsteen at the Stone Pony and the Wonder Bar. She also enjoyed helping out at the Stone Pony with ‘Will Call’ and guest services.
- —Minnick prefers to spend her free time with her ten grandchildren and three children, Leah, Elizabeth, and John Charles. Family is the centre of her life, her greatest joy, her grounding, and her biggest motivation.
- —For relaxation, she is drawn to Cape May, N.J., where she also appreciates the history, architecture, and charm.
She names “Landman” as her favourite show and is currently watching “Lioness” and “The Agency.” Punctuality is important to her, and tardiness is one of her biggest pet peeves. Her Spotify playlist features everything from Motown. Her favourite film is “Field of Dreams,” as she enjoys films with heart, a story, and a lasting impact.
