Urban Outfitters Europe, a fashion and lifestyle retailer from the United States, has contractually secured a retail space of approximately 725 square metres at Kurfürstendamm 15 in Berlin. The letting was part of a relocation by the company.
The previous tenant of the retail unit was the Dutch lingerie brand Hunkemöller. Its site relinquishment was advised by Lührmann. The Amsterdam office of real estate service provider McDevitt was responsible for finding the new space for Urban Outfitters. Lührmann and McDevitt collaborated in brokering the new location.
Significance of the Kurfürstendamm Location
The building where Urban Outfitters will occupy its new space dates from 1889. It is characterised by a neo-baroque façade and is one of the characteristic grand buildings of Kurfürstendamm. This boulevard is considered one of Germany's leading shopping streets and represents a strategically important location for international retail brands.
Maria Roß-Capotorto, Senior Consultant Retail Letting at Lührmann's Berlin office, commented on the transaction. She emphasised the significance of Kurfürstendamm for the retail network of international brands like Urban Outfitters. She expressed her satisfaction at having contributed, together with McDevitt, to the brand's continued presence on Kurfürstendamm.
