The "VdW Bayern Foundation – Socially Oriented Housing for People in Bavaria" has been legally recognised since 29 July 2026. On this date, the Government of Upper Bavaria confirmed the foundation and simultaneously brought its statutes into effect. With this formal recognition, the foundation is authorised to commence its operational activities. The primary objective of the foundation is to support individuals in precarious living circumstances and to promote social initiatives within the residential environments of member companies of the Association of Bavarian Housing Companies (VdW Bayern).
The establishment of this foundation was preceded by a resolution of the VdW Bayern Association Assembly on 7 May 2026. The recent state recognition marks the completion of the necessary administrative steps. Association Director Hans Maier commented that recognition by the Government of Upper Bavaria represents significant progress. He emphasised that the foundation can now fulfil its core mission, namely providing unbureaucratic assistance to people in difficult life situations and sustainably strengthening the social commitment of the Bavarian housing industry.
The foundation pursues exclusively charitable and benevolent purposes. Its focus is on individuals in the immediate residential surroundings of the almost 500 member companies of VdW Bayern. The funding portfolio includes projects for social inclusion, initiatives for inclusive and self-determined living, and support measures for individuals after strokes of fate or in special life situations. Additionally, projects aimed at strengthening neighbourhood relations and social cohesion are promoted.
The capital base of the foundation is an endowment of one million EUR. This capital is invested permanently and remains intact. The proceeds from this foundation capital, as well as additional donations and endowments, are available for the implementation of funding projects. Association Director Andreas Pritschet underscored the cooperative approach of the foundation and invited participation. The goal is to realise social projects together with member companies, partners, and sponsors, which directly benefit residents in the neighbourhoods and thus create sustainable added value for the Bavarian housing industry and society.
The organisational structure of the foundation is designed to ensure a close connection to practical work and regional conditions. The foundation's executive board consists of the directors of VdW Bayern. The chairpersons of the association's regional working groups are represented on the foundation council. This composition allows experiences and specific needs from all regions of Bavaria to be directly incorporated into decision-making for funding measures.
