WaVe-X, an investor specialising in early-stage start-ups, has participated in the current ten-million-euro funding round of Berlin-based energy and refurbishment expert Fuchs & Eule. Founded in 2021, the company supports portfolio holders, family offices, asset managers and investors with the energy assessment and refurbishment of residential and commercial properties through data-driven, AI-supported analyses. The funds provided are intended to support the further expansion of the digital business model, particularly in the area of AI-supported portfolio screenings and refurbishment consulting.
Since its founding, Fuchs & Eule states it has carried out over 10,000 analyses for properties with a total area exceeding five million square metres. These services are relevant in the context of increased regulatory requirements, such as ESG criteria and European directives like the EU Buildings Directive. These developments lead to an increased need for action and the necessity of comprehensive energy-efficient refurbishments within the existing building stock.
Data-driven decisions for the building transition
The real estate market is facing an increasing emphasis on energy quality: energy-efficient buildings are becoming more attractive, while inefficient properties are experiencing increased value pressure. Fuchs & Eule addresses this development with AI-supported portfolio screenings, detailed building analyses, and digital twins. The goal is to identify refurbishment and value enhancement potential and to derive economically sensible measures. This creates a sound basis for decision-making regarding the energy-efficient transformation of property portfolios.
This methodology enables portfolio holders to prioritise refurbishment measures in a targeted manner, plan investments economically, and increase the long-term value of their portfolios. The company also offers support with grant consulting and the subsequent implementation of measures. Robin Behlau, Co-CEO of Fuchs & Eule, stated that property owners recognise the necessity of decarbonising their portfolios and are seeking a trustworthy partner who can translate fragmented building data into clear, actionable, and financeable refurbishment plans.
Strategic Potential in Investment
WaVe-X considers Fuchs & Eule an attractive investment due to the combination of increasing regulatory pressure to act, growing demand for energy-efficient properties, and a scalable, data-driven business model. Michal Lewandowski, Senior Investment Manager at WaVe-X, highlighted that Fuchs & Eule addresses a central problem in the real estate market. Property owners are under significant refurbishment pressure due to ESG requirements, rising energy costs, and economic factors. Traditional consulting cannot fully meet this demand. Fuchs & Eule's use of AI transforms the consulting business by converting complex building data into actionable decisions and providing owners with a roadmap for the building transition.
With this investment, WaVe-X continues its strategy of investing in technology-driven companies that improve efficiency, transparency, and sustainability in established industries. The investment in Fuchs & Eule illustrates the focus on digital solutions that exhibit high operational relevance and long-term growth potential.
