New management mandate in Berlin's government quarter
Car park operator APCOA Germany is expanding its network of locations in the federal capital. On 1 January 2027, the company will take over operation of the underground car park at Reinhardtstrasse 27A in the Berlin-Mitte district. The parking facility comprises a total of 158 spaces and is accessible to users around the clock. With this takeover, the operator adds a central site close to key political and commercial institutions to its existing Berlin portfolio.
In the course of the operator change, APCOA plans to modernise the technical infrastructure of the underground car park. The company intends to introduce the barrier-free FreeFlow system, which automatically records vehicle number plates upon entry and exit. This technology eliminates physical parking tickets and waiting times at barriers, as the parking duration is recorded fully automatically as vehicles drive through.
Digital payment systems and infrastructure expansion
Payment will be switched to cashless methods. In addition to payment by credit card at the automated pay station, users will have digital options such as ScanPay and the proprietary APCOA FLOW app at their disposal. For registered app customers, the entire parking process is handled automatically, making trips to the payment machine entirely unnecessary. Furthermore, APCOA plans to equip the underground car park with additional charging points for electric vehicles in the future to meet demand in the e-mobility sector.
- —158 parking spaces with continuous 24/7 operation
- —Barrier-free entry and exit via camera-based FreeFlow technology
- —Cashless payment options via automated pay station, ScanPay or APCOA FLOW app
- —Planned expansion with EV charging points alongside existing car wash station
Daniel Riehn, Commercial Director at APCOA Germany, stated that with the underground car park on Reinhardtstrasse, the company is strengthening its presence in a central Berlin location. He noted that the use of FreeFlow technology will make the parking experience more efficient and convenient for customers, creating a contemporary offering in combination with digital payment options and the planned charging infrastructure.
The location in Berlin-Mitte is characterised by its immediate proximity to the government quarter. The surrounding area features numerous ministries, office locations, hotels and cultural venues. Major destinations such as Friedrichstrasse, Berlin Central Station, the Reichstag building and the Brandenburg Gate can be reached within short distances. Accordingly, the parking facility caters to commuters, business travellers, tourists and local residents. An established on-site car wash station complements the service.
