BarmeniaGothaer has made a strategic decision regarding its site in Cologne. The existing rental agreements for the campus in the Zollstock district, which would have expired in 2030, have been extended prematurely until at least 2035. This measure includes a comprehensive modernisation of the buildings to be used in the future and represents a long-term investment in the site. It provides planning certainty for the approximately 3,500 employees at the Cologne branch.

Prior to this decision, the company conducted a detailed review of various property options in the Cologne area as part of its “Cologne 2030” project. The evaluation showed that the Cologne-Zollstock site continues to offer an advantageous combination of attractiveness, economic viability, flexibility, and development potential. This analysis was decisive for remaining at the established site.

Co-CEO Oliver Schoeller commented on the decision: remaining at the campus in Cologne-Zollstock offers a reliable outlook for employees and simultaneously enables investment in a modern, attractive, and future-oriented working environment. This underscores the importance of employee satisfaction and the creation of contemporary working conditions for the company.

Concept for future-proof working environments

The central component of this further development is the modernisation of the two buildings located on Arnoldiplatz. The aim is to implement modern working environments that meet the demands for flexibility and efficiency. This includes the design of open and flexibly usable work areas, the creation of quiet zones for concentrated work, and the establishment of new meeting and common areas to promote communication and collaboration.

The existing rental agreements for the properties on Arnoldiplatz have initially been extended until the end of 2035. In addition, an extension option has been agreed, allowing use until 2040. With this transaction, BarmeniaGothaer is sustainably strengthening its traditional site in Cologne-Zollstock and creating a solid foundation for the further development of the campus in the coming years.
