The Supervisory Board of Bilfinger SE decided at its latest meeting to extend the mandate of Thomas Schulz as Chief Executive Officer. His contract will be continued until the end of February 2032. Thomas Schulz has been with the company in this position since March 2022 and has made a significant contribution to its strategic reorientation and operational development during his tenure to date.

Eckhard Cordes, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, highlighted the company's transformation under Mr Schulz's leadership. He stated that Bilfinger had fundamentally expanded its market positioning, significantly improved operational excellence, and continuously increased profitable growth. According to Mr Cordes, the decision to extend the contract sends a clear signal of continuity and stability to customers, employees, and shareholders.

Development under Thomas Schulz

Since taking office on 1 March 2022, Thomas Schulz has consistently steered the company towards profitable growth and sustainable value creation. Under his leadership, the Group has recorded a significant increase in turnover. The EBITA margin has almost tripled during this period, underscoring the improved efficiency and profitability of the business model.

The positive business development is also reflected in the performance of Bilfinger shares. The company returned to the MDAX in 2024 and was included in the STOXX Europe 600 in June 2025, illustrating its increased market valuation and improved positioning in the European stock market.

Continuity and future direction

Thomas Schulz stated that Bilfinger is on a sustainably profitable growth path and that the strategy has been consistently implemented, creating a solid foundation for further development. He thanked the Supervisory Board for their trust and acknowledged the commitment and expertise of the employees who have significantly contributed to the success. Mr Schulz emphasised his intention to continue driving the implementation of the strategy together with the team.

Thomas Schulz brings many years of international management experience from publicly listed industrial groups. Before joining Bilfinger, he was Group CEO at FLSmidth A/S in Copenhagen from 2013 to 2022. Prior to that, he held various management positions at Sandvik AB and Svedala Industri AB. He holds a doctorate in mining engineering from RWTH Aachen University.
