At Expo Real in Munich, Mayor Dr. Thorsten Kornblum highlighted Braunschweig's role as the centre of one of Europe's most research-intensive regions. He emphasised the favourable investment environment, which spans sectors such as mobility, biotechnology, digital production and quantum technologies. This broad positioning underscores the city's potential for diverse future investments.
A key location advantage identified by Dr. Kornblum lies in the city's administrative structure. The merging of the building and economic affairs departments enables concentrated support for investment projects. This leads to increased efficiency and shorter coordination paths, which is significant for investors.
New Holwede Quarter
The planned Holwede Quarter was presented at the Braunschweig stand reception. City Planning and Economic Affairs Councillor Gerold Leppa introduced the project, which is to be built on the approximately five-hectare site of the former Municipal Hospital. The concept envisages a quarter divided into six courtyards with individual characters, comprising various forms of housing, cafés and shops. A quarter square with an adjacent park and direct access to the Oker river complements the offering. The project is planned for realisation within the next two years.

Braunschweig's presence at Expo Real was organised by Braunschweig Zukunft GmbH under the umbrella of the State of Lower Saxony and the Hannover Braunschweig Göttingen Wolfsburg Metropolitan Region. Jörg Meyer, Managing Director of Braunschweig Zukunft GmbH, acknowledged the support of 13 partners from the Braunschweig real estate industry, who made the presence at this international trade fair possible.
