International hotel group BWH Hotels is initiating a comprehensive strategic repositioning of its global brand identity. In future, WorldHotels will serve as the overarching international umbrella brand for the entire portfolio, which comprises more than 4,000 hotels across 100 countries and 18 individual hotel brands. The WorldHotels name, which previously designated an independent collection within the group, is thus being extended to the entire corporate group. The aim of this measure is to increase the portfolio's international visibility and appeal to additional guest segments.
The step also brings visible adjustments for the regional organisation: the BWH Hotels Central Europe unit will officially operate in the market under the name WorldHotels Central Europe from 2027. The identity, naming conventions and individual brand characteristics of the affiliated properties remain unaffected by this transition. The portfolio continues to span the entire spectrum, from economy and extended-stay operations through the upper midscale segment to boutique and luxury hotels.
Preserving established brands and strengthening market position
According to Carmen Dücker, Managing Director of BWH Hotels Central Europe, the WorldHotels umbrella brand is intended to sharpen the overall profile and make it more transparent for travellers. Previously, many guests were familiar with only a fraction of the available brands. In future, the spectrum from the economy to the luxury segment will be communicated more clearly, while the independence and character of individual locations remain fully preserved.
Marcus Smola, also Managing Director of BWH Hotels Central Europe, confirmed in this context that established brands such as Best Western will continue unchanged. Neither the brand profile nor the identity of the individual properties will change. Instead, the shared umbrella presence creates additional reach for hoteliers and improves their competitive standing against international hotel chains and platforms.
Consolidation of loyalty programmes and digital initiative
A central pillar of the realignment is the merger of the existing loyalty programmes. On 5 January 2027, Best Western Rewards and WorldHotels Rewards will be merged under the name WorldHotels Rewards. The previously separate programmes unite around 70 million members worldwide. The merged system will comprise three membership tiers, with accumulated points and existing member benefits fully retained.
- —More than 4,000 hotels in 100 countries united under the umbrella brand
- —Retention of all 18 hotel brands including the core brand Best Western
- —Merger of loyalty programmes on 5 January 2027 with around 70 million members
- —Name change from BWH Hotels Central Europe to WorldHotels Central Europe from 2027
The brand transformation is flanked by investments in the company's digital infrastructure. A new website and a fundamentally redesigned mobile application are intended to simplify booking processes across the global portfolio. The digital offering connects global reach with local recommendations from on-site teams, encapsulated programmatically in the guiding principle Welcome to Our Neighborhood.
