Capital Group, an international investment manager with US$3.4 trillion in assets under management, has made a new appointment at the helm of its ETF division for Europe and Asia-Pacific. Jamie Sinclair takes on the role of Head of ETFs and will be responsible for the development and leadership of the business in the aforementioned regions, based in London.

Mr Sinclair joins Capital Group from BlackRock, where he spent over a decade in various senior roles, most recently as Head of iShares Product Distribution for the EMEA region. This appointment underscores Capital Group's strategic interest in expanding its presence in the international ETF segment.

Strategic Importance and Expertise

Scott Davis, Head of ETFs at Capital Group, commented on Mr Sinclair's appointment. He highlighted that Jamie Sinclair brings extensive experience in ETF distribution as well as a profound understanding of client needs in Europe and Asia-Pacific. With over 15 years of industry experience, his leadership will play a crucial role in further expanding the regional presence.

Jamie Sinclair himself commented on his move as joining at a very exciting time. He emphasised Capital Group's long-term investment approach, its strong research culture and its commitment to clients. He looks forward to working together to further drive growth in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Existing Market Position

Capital Group already offers an extensive product range in the US, comprising 25 active ETFs and eight ETF model portfolios. The company is considered the third-largest provider of active ETFs in the US market, holding a market share of 7.4 per cent there. Capital Group is also present in Canada with four active ETFs. Jamie Sinclair's appointment now signals a focus on intensifying activities outside North America and establishing a comparable market position in these key regions.
