Hospitality company Carnegie Hospitality is continuing its expansion in Manhattan. As reported by Commercial Observer, the operator signed an agreement last month to take over the premises previously occupied by fast-casual chain Smashburger in the 7 Penn Plaza building. Another Carnegie Diner & Cafe is set to operate at this location in future.
The property belongs to the portfolio of The Feil Organization. Under a tripartite agreement between the landlord, previous tenant Smashburger and the new operator, the parties simultaneously agreed to extend the lease by ten years. The transaction enables a seamless handover of the space during ongoing operations.
Long-term commitment in the Penn District
The retail and restaurant unit taken over extends to a total of 5,609 square feet. For Carnegie Hospitality, the premises offer ample room for its in-house diner and cafe concept, which caters to visitors, office workers and commuters in the surrounding area. The location benefits directly from high footfall in the Penn District.
The neighbourhood around Pennsylvania Station is one of the most heavily frequented hubs in the metropolis. In such locations, landlords such as The Feil Organization deliberately rely on established hospitality brands to secure the long-term appeal of their ground-floor space.
