Todd Kahn, CEO and Brand President of Coach, and long-time retail executive Francine Della Baida have brought their historic estate in Briarcliff Manor to market for USD 4.195 million. The couple acquired the property in 2022 and undertook a comprehensive renovation, restoring its original architecture while modernising the kitchen, butler's pantry and bar, the primary suite, garage, landscaping, and masonry.
Built around 1900 by village founder Walter Law for his daughter, the Southern Colonial-style residence was originally conceived as an homage to George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate in Virginia. Kahn and Della Baida's meticulous renovation aimed to preserve the property's historic character while adapting it to modern living standards.
Estate details and features
Upon entering the property, a long driveway winds through trees to a porte-cochère at the side of the house. The main exterior comes into view as a large lawn stretches out in front of the white Southern Colonial-style façade. A veranda extends across the entire front of the house under a deep overhang supported by six tall columns. Black shutters, white timber shingles, and a row of rocking chairs line the covered walkway.
Inside, beyond the double-door entrance, the house opens into a central foyer with dark hardwood floors and a staircase at the rear. This is where the house's extensive woodworking and handcrafted mouldings begin, before doors open on either side of the space into the main living areas. The formal living room, to the left of the foyer, is arranged around one of the house's four wood-burning fireplaces. A pair of sofas and curved armchairs are grouped around the fire on a large patterned rug, while lattice-panelled doors lead to the adjoining sunroom.
The sunroom features oversized mullioned windows that wrap around the walls, offering views of the lush woodlands and manicured grounds surrounding the house. On the other side of the foyer is the formal dining room, its walls clad with three-quarter-height timber panelling in dark anthracite. A long oval table with purple velvet chairs stands beneath a glass chandelier next to another fireplace.
Modernised areas and outdoor design
Through the door at the back of the dining room is a butler's pantry and bar, one of the areas Kahn and Della Baida reimagined during their renovation. Dark blue, glass-fronted cabinets display glassware above white countertops laden with a large liquor collection. From the butler's pantry, the layout flows into a bright kitchen with bespoke Bilotta cabinetry and white marble worktops. A large navy blue island with seating runs down the centre, while Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Miele appliances are integrated into the surrounding white cabinets. A secondary staircase provides further access to the upper floors. Adjacent to the staircase is a breakfast nook with a simple wooden table and brightly upholstered chairs in front of a large lattice window overlooking the garden.
The main living areas are completed by the great room under a cathedral ceiling with white painted panels that follow the steep roofline. A stone fireplace occupies one side of the room, while oversized Palladian windows and matching French doors let in light from multiple directions. Upstairs, the Primary Suite was transformed during the renovation into a complete private wing with two walk-in wardrobes. The bedroom itself is decorated in a soft, neutral colour palette, with dark hardwood floors and windows on both sides of the bed. The en-suite bathroom is almost entirely fitted with light marble, featuring a freestanding bath in front of a large window and under a skylight. A glass-enclosed steam shower is positioned opposite the bath, while two bespoke Bilotta vanity units are placed in separate corners of the room.
