Concular, known as a key company in the field of circular construction in Germany, is expanding its presence in the South German market by opening a branch in Munich. This strategic decision aims to intensify activities in Bavaria and meet regional demands. Marlene Stechl is taking over the management of the location and responsibility for strategic development and market expansion in Bavaria with immediate effect. Through this expansion into the Bavarian state capital, Concular complements its existing network of six locations in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Dresden, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Vienna.

The opening of the Munich location comes at a time of dynamic developments in the Bavarian construction sector. The transformation towards a sustainable construction industry is gaining considerable importance in the region. This is underpinned by various initiatives and projects that are providing groundbreaking impetus. These include specific funding programmes such as Munich's municipal "Pilot Funding for Circular Building" (Pilotförderung Zirkuläres Bauen) as well as extensive research projects, including the EU collaborative project CirCoFin, which is funded under Horizon Europe. These framework conditions create a favourable environment for the implementation of circular construction practices.

The new Munich location serves as a central point of contact for various stakeholders in the construction sector. Project developers, property owners and public sector representatives will find direct support here to secure building materials locally and establish circular processes firmly in the region. This underscores Concular's commitment to enabling urban mining and the reuse of building components on a larger scale, as has already been successfully demonstrated in regional reference projects such as the Kulturforum Königsbrunn.

Concular has secured Marlene Stechl, a proven expert, for the establishment of its Bavarian location. Ms Stechl possesses in-depth expertise at the intersection of architecture, research and entrepreneurship. She is a double graduate of the Technical University of Munich, where she earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Architecture and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Management. Most recently, she co-founded and served as managing director of the start-up onmatter, formerly HopfON. There, she developed circular acoustic panels using agricultural residues.

In addition to her entrepreneurial activities, Marlene Stechl was active in research and teaching at the Technical University of Munich, focusing on bio-based and regional building materials. Her involvement in national and European research projects underlines her scientific depth. For her achievements, she has received several awards, including the Bavarian Construction Industry University Prize (Hochschulpreis der Bayerischen Bauindustrie), the TUM IDEAward, the Munich Impact Award and recognition at the DGNB Sustainability Challenge. Ms Stechl emphasises that significant developments are currently being observed in Bavaria in the area of the circular economy, and she sees considerable potential here. She looks forward to her role in establishing urban mining in Bavaria and intensifying circularity in the South German construction sector.
