In fiscal year 2025, easyApotheke achieved a 14 percent increase in turnover. This development surpassed that of the overall market, which saw a 6 percent rise. A significant factor in this growth was the RX product range, establishing the cooperative as the fastest-growing in the German pharmacy market. The positive development was driven by both prescription medicines and the OTC and self-selection range, with the group's external turnover reaching approximately EUR 655 million by the end of the year.
This sustained success is evident in a challenging market environment. While the number of pharmacies in Germany saw a decline and many locations faced economic problems, easyApotheke managed to expand its market position. Turnover in the prescription medicines sector rose by 20 percent, while the OTC and self-selection segment recorded a 5 percent increase in turnover.
Growth Drivers and Strategic Direction
Key growth drivers included high delivery capability, successful marketing campaigns, and the consistent integration of in-store advisory expertise with digital offerings. The progressive establishment of e-prescriptions and the expansion of the e-commerce sector for local pharmacies also contributed to the positive development. Lars Horstmann, CEO of easyApotheke Holding AG, emphasised that a future-proof business model is essential in a changing market. The pharmacies combine personal on-site advice with digital services to create a reliable healthcare offering and utilise digital transformation to shape a connected healthcare system.
The digitisation strategy was consistently further developed in 2025. The aim is to support people across all touchpoints as a reliable partner in health management. The omnichannel strategy connects physical pharmacies and digital offerings. Turnover in the non-RX sector, generated via optimised Click & Collect shops, increased by 33.4 percent compared to the previous year. The easyApp was further developed to support integrated health management, which was reflected in the RX sector. The number of redeemed prescriptions in 2025 increased by 138 percent compared to the previous year, largely due to the introduction of the CardLink function. Following a relaunch, app user numbers rose by 87 percent in 2025.
In the social media sector, easyApotheke maintained its leading position in the German pharmacy market. The number of fans and followers increased by almost 8 percent. Approximately 400 posts for various platforms were created and targeted for promotion, reaching around 38 million users. At the end of 2025, the strategic area of e-health was established to develop a holistic ecosystem of digital partner offerings. This includes prevention, care, and health management to strengthen personalised customer engagement and online visibility.
The SEMPORA OTC and Pharmacy Market Study recognised easyApotheke as the best-performing cooperative for the seventh consecutive time. Highlights included professional site management, modern shop fitting, purchasing services with over 100 industry partners, GS1-certified category management, the market-leading digital concept, and comprehensive marketing services. At the same time, practical support for commercial questions and “easyRecruiting” were positively rated. Mr Horstmann stated that this award confirms their commitment to offering pharmacy partners a future-proof and economically sound model and illustrates that modern healthcare goes beyond the mere dispensing of medicines. The renewed award in 2026 confirms continuous development and a strong market position.
