Ernsting’s family, an established textile chain, is returning to Wolfsburg city centre and will become a tenant in the first construction phase of BRAWO Arkaden. The company has secured a retail space of approximately 400 square metres on the ground floor of the new development, adjacent to the tenant KIND. The lease is expected to commence in the second half of 2027, with the opening projected for late 2027.
This letting success represents a strategic step for Volksbank BRAWO to strengthen the new urban quarter with another prominent partner. Ernsting’s family, already established in Wolfsburg, offers a wide range of products in addition to textiles, including accessories, jewellery, home textiles, glass, porcelain and ceramic goods, gift articles, and toys. After vacating the Schillergalerie pavilion in spring 2025 to allow for the construction of BRAWO Arkaden, Ernsting’s family is currently operating in City-Galerie.
Statements from those involved
Claudia Kayser, Head of the Wolfsburg Directorate at Volksbank BRAWO, expressed her satisfaction with the return of Ernsting’s family to its former location. She emphasised the trusting and cooperative relationship that has proven successful in the past and highlighted that the diverse product range will further enhance the attractiveness of BRAWO Arkaden. Jan-Hendrick Bernhardt, Expansion Manager at Ernsting’s family, expressed his delight at the return to BRAWO Arkaden and underlined the company's almost six-decade-long market position in attractive fashion at fair prices, as well as its continuous growth.
Urban development and area balance
The letting to Ernsting’s family is considered a relevant step forward for the overall development of BRAWO Arkaden. With already known tenants such as NEW YORKER and KIND, a diversified mix of industries is emerging in the first construction phase. This first construction phase extends across the area from Porschestraße 60 to 66. Here, approximately 4,500 square metres for retail and 82 rental apartments will be realised on an above-ground total area of around 17,000 square metres. The quarter will be supplemented by green inner courtyards, common areas, and an underground car park. Completion of the first construction phase is scheduled for the end of 2027.
