The Fattal Hotel Group has signed an agreement to acquire the Blakely Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. This acquisition marks the company's first hotel investment in the United States and represents a significant step in its evolution from a leading European to a globally operating hotel group. The transaction was completed on 7 July 2026.
The property is located on West 55th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenue. This location positions the hotel in the heart of Manhattan's hotel and entertainment district. Central Park, Times Square, and Fifth Avenue are all within walking distance. The Blakely Hotel is a pre-war building and comprises 117 guest rooms, including 42 suites, which boast above-average sizes for the Manhattan location.
Following the takeover, the Fattal Hotel Group plans a comprehensive renovation and repositioning programme for the Blakely Hotel. The hotel will remain closed during the refurbishment phase. Reopening is projected for mid-2027 and is expected to operate under one of the group's existing brands. This measure aims to adapt the property to the quality standards and brand strategies of the Fattal Group.
David Fattal, founder of the Fattal Hotel Group, stated that entering the US market is a milestone for the company and a significant strategic step for its continued international growth. He emphasised that New York, as a key market in the hospitality industry, represents the ideal location for the group's first US property. Over the years, the company has built a strong presence in leading European metropolises and established a diverse portfolio of hotel brands. The expansion into New York represents the next chapter in its development into a global hotel company.
Ronen Nissenbaum, CEO of Leonardo Hotels, responsible for the UK, Ireland, the Benelux countries, Spain, Portugal, and US development, highlighted the relevance of the central location of the first US hotel in one of the world's most significant cities. He expressed his excitement to transfer the service quality of Leonardo Hotels to the US market. Nissenbaum pointed to the significant long-term potential of the property, due to its exceptional location in Midtown Manhattan. The objective is to reposition the hotel and reopen it as a premium hotel that reflects the group's standards.
