Diptyque, the French luxury brand known for its scented candles and perfumes, is doubling its office space in New York City and moving to Murray Hill, Manhattan. This is according to information available to Commercial Observer. The company has signed a lease for an entire floor totalling 18,017 square feet at 16 East 34th Street from Wohio Holding.

The property, a recently renovated office and retail building between Madison and Fifth Avenue, will serve as Diptyque's new location from early next year. The brand will occupy the entire 17th floor of the 22-storey high-rise. The rent for the ten-year contract was not disclosed, but the average office rent in Midtown South in August was $80.73 per square foot, according to data from Cushman & Wakefield.

Strategic Relocation and Location Advantages

This move takes Diptyque east from its current location in the Garment District, specifically at 240-246 West 35th Street from ATCO Properties & Management. The company had occupied 8,097 square feet there since 2019. Laurence Carroll of C&W represented Diptyque in the relocation, while Peter Duncan, Alexander Bermingham, and James Donaldson of George Comfort & Sons negotiated on behalf of the landlord. George Comfort & Sons is responsible for the management and leasing of the property at 16 East 34th Street.

Peter Duncan commented that Diptyque's decision to make 16 East 34th Street its North American headquarters underscores the high-quality design of the tower, as well as the building's dedicated management and service, given that the brand itself stands for style and luxury.

Extensive Building Modernisation

The 376,000 square foot Midtown South tower has recently undergone extensive renovation. New features include a new roof terrace and a modernised lobby. Existing tenants in the building include workspace provider Corporate Suites and luggage brand Tumi. A C&W spokesperson declined to comment on the deal, and representatives for Diptyque's parent company, Manzanita Capital, did not respond to a request for comment.
