A sports club will establish itself in eastern Queens. Gravity Fitness has signed a long-term lease for 23,000 square feet (approximately 2,137 square metres) at Muss Development's Flushing Plaza at 41-61 Kissena Boulevard. The company will occupy the ground floor of a two-storey office and retail complex in the heart of Flushing, the landlord announced.
Muss Development did not disclose the exact term of the lease. The asking rent for the building was $52 per square foot. The gym is scheduled to open in mid-2027. It remains unclear whether this is Gravity Fitness's first location, as a company of the same name sells fitness equipment.
Flushing as a Growing Location
Jason Muss, President of Muss Development, commented on the transaction: "Flushing continues to be a thriving community with an eclectic mix of business and retail offerings." He added that the lease agreement with Gravity Fitness underscores residents' interest in healthy options that get them away from their screens and encourage physical activity.
Ross Spitalnick negotiated on behalf of the landlord internally. Steve Zhu of Compass Commercial represented Gravity Fitness in this transaction. Mr Zhu did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Other Tenants at Flushing Plaza
Other retail tenants in the Flushing Plaza development include Dunkin', Allstar Pharmacy, the spa training organisation M Star Institute, and a branch of the Charles P. Wang Health and Wellness Center.
