The Zweibrücken Fashion Outlet has received final planning permission for its planned expansion. This step represents an important milestone for the further development of the site. The granted permission covers the full expansion of the sales area to a total size of approximately 29,500 square metres and provides the necessary foundation for the implementation of the next development phase. Construction is scheduled to begin in October.
Mr Uli Nölkensmeier, Center Director of the Zweibrücken Fashion Outlet, commented on the significance of this permission. It is predicted that approximately 350 new jobs will be created during the first phase of expansion alone. The expansion will create the conditions for further growth, strengthen the regional economy, and increase the tourist appeal of the Zweibrücken Fashion Outlet and the entire region. The outlet is one of the leading destinations of its kind in Germany and attracts visitors annually from the entire greater region as well as from international areas. The now approved expansion lays the foundation for making the centre viable in the long term and further expanding its position as an important shopping and leisure destination.
Focus on Regional Collaboration
Close collaboration with surrounding towns and regional partners remains a priority for the Zweibrücken Fashion Outlet, even with continued growth. An example of this is the partnership with the shoe city of Pirmasens, which has been in place since the beginning of the year. This cooperation links two of the largest shopping destinations in the Southwest Palatinate and draws attention to their respective offerings. A joint shopping event on 26 September, where a shuttle connects the two locations, illustrates this collaboration. Limited places for this event will be allocated via a competition with regional broadcaster RPR1. Participants will thus have the opportunity to experience the centre's international brand offerings and the shoe culture in Pirmasens in one day.
Uli Nölkensmeier concluded by stressing that for the Zweibrücken Fashion Outlet, economic success and good coexistence in the region are inextricably linked. He underlined the importance of further expanding dialogue with neighbours, especially in the course of growth.
