The Hahn Sierra Food Retail Fund, a cooperation between the Hahn Group and Sonae Sierra, has acquired a portfolio of nine supermarkets in Spain and Portugal. The transaction comprises properties with a total rental area of approximately 36,000 square metres. The markets are located in Murcia, Valencia, Catalonia, Andalusia, as well as in the Lisbon and Porto regions.
All acquired properties are leased to the Spanish food retailer Mercadona. The Hahn Group is responsible for the management of the fund and the portfolio, while Sonae Sierra handles the asset management services for the properties. This structure underscores the partnership-oriented approach of the two companies within the framework of the fund.
Strategic Portfolio Expansion
The acquisition of the portfolio is a strategic decision to consolidate the presence in Southern Europe and strengthen engagement in the food-related retail property sector. Mercadona is an established operator in food retail, which ensures the stability of tenancy agreements. The integration of these markets into the Hahn Sierra Food Retail Fund is testament to the ongoing growth strategy of both partners.
With this acquisition, the fund continues its expansion strategy, which focuses on properties with high-quality locations and long-term lease agreements. The markets are situated in suburban areas with good transport links, ensuring the supply of daily necessities in the respective regions. The acquisition reflects a focus on essential retail properties, which have proven resilient against market volatilities.
