The Accor Group has announced the expansion of its Handwritten Collection with the addition of Hotel Aeschi Interlaken. This integration marks the collection's presence in the Alpine region of Switzerland. The Handwritten Collection was created by Accor to group hotels with a distinctive character that wish to maintain their individual style and local identity.
Hotel Aeschi Interlaken features 65 rooms and suites. Facilities include a restaurant with panoramic views, a wellness area, and a library. The hotel's strategic location provides guests with access to various leisure activities, such as hiking routes, water sports opportunities on Lake Thun, and winter sports facilities.
Strategic Classification and Special Features
Selection for the Handwritten Collection is based on criteria that highlight a property's specific charm and authenticity. Hotels are integrated that offer guests a personal experience, while simultaneously benefiting from Accor's global distribution structure and loyalty programmes. The collection, launched at the end of January 2023, already includes hotels in various countries, including France, China, Australia, Vietnam, and Egypt.
The philosophy of the Handwritten Collection aims to allow each hotel to have its own story. According to Accor, this is intended to emphasise the uniqueness of each property. Operators stress the importance of a differentiated hotel offering in the premium segment, which occupies a niche between the luxury sector and conventional chain brands.
Geographical Significance
The choice of location in Interlaken underscores the attractiveness of the Swiss Alpine region for hotel investments and developments. Interlaken is considered a central starting point for exploring the Bernese Oberland and attracts an international audience. The inclusion of Hotel Aeschi in the Handwritten Collection reinforces the trend towards individual, yet globally connected, hotel concepts that preserve local character.
