The American actor Jim Carrey has placed his oceanfront estate on the Hawaiian island of Maui on the market for 35 million US dollars. Carrey acquired the property in 2016 for 16.5 million US dollars. The listing comes shortly after his marriage to his long-time partner Min Ah and the sale of his estate in Brentwood, California, which was sold for 17 million US dollars after three years on the market.
The estate is located on Keawakapu Beach in Kihei and comprises an area of just under 0.96 acres with 170 feet of beach frontage. Designed by the renowned architectural firm Ike Kligerman Barkley, the main residence offers 4,717 square feet of living space, arranged across three bedrooms and five bathrooms. Unlike many traditional beachfront residences, the buildings were deliberately set back and are separated from the beach by an expansive lawn and a grove of coconut palms.
Architecture and features of the beachfront estate
The architectural design makes use of traditional tropical building materials such as natural timber, bamboo and stone, alongside open-plan layouts. The central living space is defined by a high ceiling with exposed roof trusses and woven bamboo elements. Expansive sliding panels link the interior to a covered stone lanai, extending the living space towards the Pacific Ocean. On the upper floor, the primary suite features folding glass panels that open onto a sun deck with views across to the islands of Kahoʻolawe and Lānaʻi.

The park-like grounds also accommodate a self-contained two-bedroom guest house with separate access and an upper-floor living area overlooking the ocean. An elaborately landscaped pool area is situated between the two structures. A free-form pool integrates into natural rock formations and features a hidden grotto, a water slide, shallow lounging areas and an elevated spa.
Strategic divestment from property holdings
Over the past decade, the Maui estate served the artist as a sanctuary away from the Los Angeles film industry. Following the previous sale of the Brentwood property and the current listing on Maui, Carrey is parting with significant portions of his former portfolio. The property on Keawakapu Beach will be handed over to the future buyer fully furnished.
