International real estate services firm JLL has appointed Angela Gentry as its new head of the New York market. For Gentry, who brings around two decades of experience in the commercial property industry, this appointment marks her second promotion within the current year. In her new role, she will oversee growth strategy, financial results, recruitment and talent development across all of the firm's business divisions in the metropolis.
Gentry joined JLL in 2022, initially taking on a newly created role as Executive Managing Director of Sales and Platform for the New York Tri-State region. Prior to this, she spent around 17 years working for rival firm CBRE. Only in May of this year was she promoted to Vice Chairman of Leasing Advisory for the Tri-State region to drive the firm's strategic initiatives and deepen client relationships.
Focus on expansion and new business
In her expanded capacity, Gentry reports directly to Peter Riguardi, Chairman and President of JLL for the New York Tri-State Region. According to the company, the team she leads has achieved notable growth: new business opportunities at JLL have since surged by 131 per cent. In addition, Gentry has supported business ventures with a total volume of over 230 million dollars.
- —Responsibility for growth strategy and profitability in the New York market
- —Targeted recruitment of industry experts and internal talent development
- —Liaison work with senior executives across all service lines
- —Strengthening competitive advantages for brokerage and advisory teams
Peter Riguardi highlighted that Gentry had fundamentally transformed the region's approach to winning new business. The models she developed are now also being deployed at other JLL locations. Bringing her into the executive leadership team was a strategic move to operate with greater sharpness and proactivity in the market.
Gentry explained that the greatest opportunities arise when conventional approaches are consistently challenged. She added that Riguardi's leadership inspired the team to push past previous performance limits. Her clear priority is to win further new business, expand JLL's market share, and provide local advisors with the optimal conditions for success.
