Lazard has announced the expansion of its financial advisory business. This expansion includes a targeted strengthening of its presence in the DACH region and an increased focus on clients across Switzerland. The strategic realignment is underpinned by the appointment of Dr. Marco Superina as Head of Investment Banking for Switzerland. These measures are part of the long-term growth strategy “Lazard 2030”, which aims to drive growth in Europe through broader coverage of key markets and to expand the global financial advisory business.
Dr. Superina will commence his role from Zurich. He will advise Swiss and international companies, entrepreneurs, and financial investors on mergers and acquisitions, capital solutions, and other strategic issues. His position is part of the DACH leadership team, headed by Marcus Schenck, who is responsible for financial advisory services in the DACH region at Lazard.
Strengthening Local Expertise
Marcus Schenck, Head of Financial Advisory for the DACH region, highlighted the importance of the Swiss economy, which is characterised by a combination of globally renowned top-tier companies and a strong base of internationally oriented founder- and family-owned businesses. Schenck explained that Lazard's ability to serve these markets will be strengthened by Dr. Superina joining Lazard and the associated new presence in Zurich. This will be achieved while maintaining local expertise and access to Lazard's global advisory platform.
Dr. Superina joins Lazard from UBS, where he served as Head of Global Banking Switzerland, responsible for client coverage and investment banking activities in Switzerland. Prior to that, he held senior positions at Credit Suisse. He began his career there in 1997 at Credit Suisse First Boston. His previous roles included Head of M&A Switzerland, Head of M&A Northern Europe, and Head of M&A Healthcare for Europe. Dr. Superina holds a PhD in Banking and Finance from the University of Zurich.
Dr. Marco Superina emphasised his almost 30 years of experience in advising Swiss companies at leading financial institutions. He highlighted that Lazard offers its clients the independent M&A advice and capital solutions they expect, based on almost two centuries of experience in advising significant transactions across Europe. He expressed his pleasure in being able to apply Lazard's global capabilities and local expertise for clients throughout Switzerland.
