INBRIGHT, a Berlin-based investor, developer and asset manager for light industrial properties, has announced a planned leadership change. Co-founder and Managing Partner Torsten Schmidt will hand over operational management to Kateryna Bal on 1 July 2026. Mr Schmidt will remain with the company in a strategic capacity, focusing on long-term corporate development, partnerships and investor relations.

Johannes Nöldeke and Sebastian Pijnenburg will remain in their roles within the management board and continue their respective areas of responsibility. Kateryna Bal, who has been Head of Operations at INBRIGHT since 2021 and a member of the extended leadership team since April 2025, will assume responsibility for the company's portfolio management upon her appointment as Managing Director of INBRIGHT Development GmbH. In addition, her duties will include central commercial and administrative functions.

Areas of responsibility and background

Kateryna Bal's responsibilities will henceforth include Office & Administration, Accounting, Controlling, Structuring, Human Resources, and the management of equity partners. Previously, Ms Bal worked for more than eight years in portfolio management and corporate development at BEOS AG, where she managed complex real estate portfolios as an authorised signatory. She completed her academic training in Architecture at HAWK in Hildesheim and at TU Berlin.

Since its establishment in 2020, INBRIGHT has positioned itself as an active developer and asset manager for light industrial and last-mile logistics properties. In collaboration with partners such as Patron Capital and Convalor, projects with a total investment volume of over EUR 500 million and a rental area of 310,000 square metres have been initiated in Germany and Portugal. This includes the Ludwigsburg Industriezentrum (LIZ), which is considered one of the largest privately financed industrial and transformation projects in Southern Germany. Most recently, INBRIGHT expanded into Portugal, where Christoph Gumlich is building up the organisational structure.

Mr Schmidt, who built up INBRIGHT with co-managing directors Johannes Nöldeke and Sebastian Pijnenburg and a team of 30 employees, stated that Ms Bal is the ideal candidate for this position due to her strategic thinking, operational excellence, and knowledge of the company. Ms Bal emphasised the intention to further integrate operational processes and scale the development and management platform to continue the momentum of recent years with clear structures and close cooperation.

INBRIGHT's Strategic Alignment

The completed leadership change underlines INBRIGHT's strategy of focusing on continuity and sound further development. The company pursues a long-term perspective that includes responsible actions and an employee-oriented corporate culture. The focus of activities remains on sustainable light industrial and last-mile logistics properties in established economic regions, the transformation of existing properties, and the implementation of institutional investment strategies in Germany and Europe.
