Thomas Bayerl, Managing Director of MEAG MUNICH ERGO Kapitalanlagegesellschaft mbH, will leave the company on 31 July 2026. This step is by mutual agreement. Mr Bayerl was significantly responsible for global investments in illiquid assets and intends to pursue a new professional challenge.
To ensure an orderly transition, Dr. Stefan Haas, also a Managing Director of MEAG MUNICH ERGO Kapitalanlagegesellschaft mbH and previously responsible for global real estate activities, will additionally assume interim management of the Illiquid Assets division from 1 July 2026. This realignment ensures continuity in the management of key asset classes.
Overall responsibility for the Munich Re Group's investments in Alternative Assets, which includes both illiquid assets and real estate, remains unchanged with Antonia Jobke. She is CIO Alternative Assets and Managing Director of MEAG MUNICH ERGO AssetManagement GmbH. This structure underscores the importance of these asset classes for the corporate strategy.

Dr. Markus Hummel, CEO of MEAG MUNICH ERGO AssetManagement GmbH, paid tribute to Thomas Bayerl's achievements. He emphasised that Mr Bayerl, together with his team, built up and expanded the global illiquid asset investment division during his 18 years at MEAG. This created the foundation upon which the company can operate successfully today and was a decisive contribution to the company's success.
