Berliner Sparkasse has initiated a structured generational change in the management of its Commercial Real Estate Finance division. Sven Volker Blankenburg will take over responsibility alongside the current division head, Marcus Buder, from 1 October 2026. This period is scheduled for a transition, as Marcus Buder will be leaving the company at his own request on 31 December 2026. Sven Volker Blankenburg will then lead the division in sole capacity.

The implementation of a temporary dual leadership aims to ensure an orderly transition. This strategy is designed to combine established expertise with new impulses to shape the future development of the business unit.

Career Paths of the Executives

Marcus Buder, 57 years old, joined Berliner Sparkasse from Berlin Hyp in 2013. He was responsible for building up the Commercial Real Estate Finance business unit. Under his leadership, Berliner Sparkasse established itself as a leading provider of commercial real estate finance within the capital region.

Sven Volker Blankenburg, 41 years old, also began his professional career at Berliner Sparkasse. Since November 2022, he has headed the Syndication and Funds department. Previously, the economist, a Master of Science graduate, held various roles within commercial real estate finance. In his previous position as deputy head of division, he played a significant role in expanding the business.
