Michael Martirena, a real estate advisor at brokerage firm Compass, assists ultra-high-net-worth clients across the South Florida counties of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. Together with his partner Ivan Chorney, he forms the brokerage duo "Ivan & Mike Team". In 2025, Martirena closed deals amounting to 298.32 million $. Over the course of his entire career, his transaction volume totals more than 2 billion $.
Record transaction in West Palm Beach marks market shift
Martirena cites the sale of a unit in South Flagler House in West Palm Beach for 38 million $ as the largest transaction of his career to date. Sums of this scale were achieved exclusively in Miami Beach until recently. The fact that such a price could now be attained in West Palm Beach demonstrates a fundamental shift in buyer preferences in the top market segment. The transaction was the outcome of years of active engagement in key networks, long before specific properties became available for sale.
Regarding his entrepreneurial ambitions, Martirena seeks to build structures that operate reliably at the highest standard even without his continuous personal presence. The objective is sustained growth that comes at the expense of neither family, integrity nor quality of life.
Influences, architecture and market understanding
In his business attitude, Martirena considers himself shaped above all by his father, who instilled in him the absolute dependability of commitments made. In addition to his business partner Ivan Chorney, he highlights the value of mentors and continuous coaching, as mental focus forms the decisive foundation in high-end brokerage.
As an architectural role model, Martirena points to the late architect Zaha Hadid, whose curved lines brought a distinctive dynamism to spaces without appearing sterile. An anecdote from his early career also permanently shaped his approach: he attended a meeting with an important prospective client dressed in a formal suit, while the client arrived in casual wear. The experience taught him that discerning clients value in-depth market knowledge far above outward formalities.
