MHP Hotel AG has extended the lease agreement for the Sheraton Düsseldorf Airport Hotel by another two years. The agreement with Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH secures the hotel's operation until 31 December 2029. Similarly, the existing franchise agreement with Marriott International for the Sheraton brand will be continued accordingly. This extension ensures the continuity of operations at an established location, which MHP Hotel AG has managed since 1 January 2017.
The lease agreement, originally dated until the end of 2024, had previously been extended until 2027. The current extension until the end of 2029 is based on MHP Hotel AG's capital-efficient lease model. Under this model, Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH remains the owner of the property, while MHP Hotel AG is responsible for management and operations, without investing its own capital in the building fabric. This secures a predictable revenue base for the company without additional investment obligations for the coming years.
Strategic Importance of the Düsseldorf Location
Düsseldorf Airport, which recorded around 21 million passengers in 2025 and showed passenger growth of almost 5 percent compared to the previous year, is Germany's fourth-largest airport. Its position as a significant economic and business travel hub provides the hotel with a structurally stable demand base. Hotel operations remain unchanged for guests, employees and business partners; the hotel will continue to operate under the Sheraton brand. This emphasises the importance of the Düsseldorf market for MHP Hotel AG.
Dr. Jörg Frehse, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MHP Hotel AG, commented on the contract extension as a sign of mutual trust and confirmation of the hotel's successful development under the leadership of MHP Hotel AG. He highlighted that the Sheraton Düsseldorf Airport Hotel holds a special market position due to its direct terminal access, stable demand base and extensive conference facilities. Düsseldorf, as an international business location with strong connections to Asia, continues to be considered strategically central as one of Germany's top seven hotel markets.
Anja Dauser, Head of Commercial at Düsseldorf Airport, emphasised that the Sheraton has been a reliable partner at Düsseldorf Airport for many years. She underlined the hotel team's ability to accurately grasp the specific requirements of an international airport location as well as the needs of passengers, crews and visitors. This experience is equally valuable for guests and for the location.
Facilities and Connectivity of the Sheraton Düsseldorf Airport Hotel
The Sheraton Düsseldorf Airport Hotel is directly connected to the terminal of Düsseldorf Airport and is located on the roof of car park P3. It offers 195 soundproofed rooms and is surrounded by approximately 10,000 square metres of green space. Gastronomic offerings include the Otto restaurant, a bar and the Deck 5 summer terrace. For conferences and events, 17 flexible, daylight-filled rooms are available for up to 100 people.
Since September 2026, the airport has been directly connected to the Düsseldorf Stadtbahn network. The new U80 line provides a connection between the terminal, city centre and central station. On exhibition days, the U81 line travels directly to Messe Düsseldorf, placing the hotel only two stops, or around seven minutes' drive, from the North entrance of the exhibition grounds.

The continuation of the Sheraton Düsseldorf Airport Hotel underlines MHP Hotel AG's presence at one of North Rhine-Westphalia's most significant transport and economic hubs. In parallel, the company is strengthening its commitment in Düsseldorf with the planned opening of an Autograph Collection hotel in 2029 in the building ensemble on Kasernenstraße and at Carsch-Haus. This contract extension is part of MHP Hotel AG's continuous portfolio optimisation, which continues with further projects in various European cities.
