The Motel One Group has opened another location in Germany with the commissioning of Motel One Koblenz. The hotel, situated on the central Löhrstraße in Koblenz city centre, expands the group's portfolio and is characterised by a combination of a central location, design quality and a specific interior concept. This concept was developed to reflect the landscape and historical character of the region around the Deutsches Eck.
Motel One Koblenz comprises 177 rooms and features several spacious public areas. The design of the building is inspired by the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers, a region that has been shaped for centuries by waterways, vineyards, forested areas and low mountain ranges. These elements are reflected in the colours, materials and forms of the interior design. The entrance area and lobby already convey this design identity. A large-format fabric back wall, visualising water structures, frames the reception and integrates an individual work of art with regional relevance, featuring motifs such as the Victory Column and the Deutsches Eck.
Natural materials and textured surfaces define the design, complemented by accents in blue, green and gold tones that create a calm atmosphere and echo the movement of the river landscape. An adjacent meeting room with transparent glass elements functionally extends the reception area and allows for informal gatherings. The heart of the hotel is on the fifth floor. There, a lounge with a bar and breakfast area extends, whose floor-to-ceiling glazing offers views over the rooftops of Koblenz to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress.
Conceptual Integration of the River Landscape
The metal ceiling in the lounge functions as a design element. Its sculpturally formed surface imitates gentle water movements and reflects light, comparable to a river's reflection. This creates a play of light and shadow, transferring the dynamic of water into the interior. Organically shaped furniture, reflective surfaces and sculptural luminaires additionally contribute to the water motif and a relaxed atmosphere.
The Rooftop One Bar on the upper floor interprets the leading motif of the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle in its sculptural design. The freestanding bar counter is positioned in front of the generous facade glazing, thereby benefiting from natural light and the views of the landscape. A terrace with approximately 76 seats complements this area. The usage concept is supplemented by flexible zones for co-working and meetings. A separable meeting room can be rented externally, independently of hotel operations, and provides a setting for business gatherings.
The design theme continues in the 177 guest rooms. The interior design uses natural colour palettes, high-quality materials and textile elements that evoke the landscape along the Rhine and Moselle. Warm wooden surfaces are combined with muted green and blue nuances to create a retreat that transfers the tranquillity of the river landscape into the room area. Stefan Lenze, Co-CEO of the Motel One Group, explained that the design of the new hotel authentically captures the character of the location and reflects the company's values regarding design, quality and central location.
