ustin Peck and Patricia Delgado, a choreographer couple, reside in their Upper West Side apartment with their four-year-old daughter. They moved in exactly one day before the city's shutdown in March 2020 due to the coronavirus. The couple's decorating style is characterized by vibrant colors, patterns, and a desire for peaceful yet inspiring spaces.
Their home is filled with furnishings and objects that connect to their personal and professional histories. As both are from sunny places - San Diego and Miami respectively - they were drawn to incorporating plants into their decor. Every Sunday, the family tends to their greenery together.
The living room features a combination of furniture pieces from each partner's past apartments, including Ms. Delgado's Moroccan pouffe and Mr. Peck's blue-gray love seat. An Art Deco mirror above the couch was purchased due to its appeal for Ms. Delgado, reminiscent of Miami.
In the dining area, a New York streetscape painting by Mr. Peck's father hangs alongside a child's art easel. The kitchen features an L-shaped bench custom-made for the breakfast nook, where dinner guests often congregate. A framed rendering of a backdrop from "Heatscape" and a vintage Cuba poster adorn the wall.
During the pandemic, Mr. Peck took on the task of hanging wallpaper in their kitchen, which he meticulously completed with Ms. Delgado's encouragement. The result is a stretch of pink-, white- and red-patterned wallpaper that adds to the apartment's eclectic charm.
The couple's office-guest room features framed artworks, including a poster from the film "West Side Story," for which Mr. Peck was the choreographer. A rug from Ms. Delgado's Miami apartment covers part of the floor, symbolizing their continued blending and combining of lives.
In the primary bedroom, a meditation corner is dominated by a cabinet holding the Gohonzon, a scroll that aids Japanese Buddhism practice. The couple often meditates together in this space, illuminated by a red lantern gifted from the producers of "Illinoise."
As dancers who think and feel spatially, Mr. Peck and Ms. Delgado found their apartment to be an ideal fit for their needs. With its easy commute to the theater district and Lincoln Center, they felt it was meant to be their home.
