A
lec and Hilaria Baldwin's Amagansett farmhouse has been their refuge for three decades. The 11,000-square-foot estate, which includes five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a library, and an expansive open-concept living area, was initially Alec's safe haven before he met Hilaria in 2011. "This was Alec's place of solace during difficult times," Hilaria said. "A place where he could come to escape the chaos."
The couple's seven young children have helped shape the décor and how the rooms are used. A glass-enclosed porch off the den, which overlooks five acres of agricultural reserve, was transformed into an art area after their first child, Carmen, was born in 2013. The room now features a large painted floor mat created by Carmen during the pandemic.
Alec's children have also influenced his love for Rice-A-Roni, which is prominently featured in a painting of Hilaria by contemporary artist Brendan O'Connell. "I have to admit that I'm embarrassed there's a gigantic painting of me in this room," Hilaria said with a laugh. The couple met at Pure Food and Wine in 2011, and their romance was followed closely by the tabloids.
The estate has undergone several transformations since Alec bought it for $1.75 million in 1995. He hired architect Francis Fleetwood to expand the eastern portion of the historic home in 1996, and later added a large adult living room and en suite with architect Fred Throo. Hilaria began renovating the kitchen by emptying out the pantry, which sparked a "thermonuclear reaction" of her taking over the house.
The library is a shrine to Alec's 45-year acting career, featuring three Golden Globes and three Emmy Awards. The couple's primary bathroom has become an Instagram hotspot for Hilaria's yoga videos, with a small table holding a Valentine's Day card from Alec to his wife, painted by his mother before she passed away in 2022.
The backyard features a lush playground, pool, and pink barbecue grill made to look like a pig. The couple's children frequent the estate, which has become their happy haven. "It's a kid's home that I never want to leave," Alec said. Despite initially putting the house on the market in 2022 for $29 million, they accepted an offer but changed their minds.
