P
rominent real estate brokers Oren and Alon Alexander will remain in custody after their initial court appearance in Miami on Friday. The brothers had sought bond on charges of sex trafficking and gang rape, but federal prosecutors argued they were a flight risk and a danger to the community. Judge Ellen D' Angelo set a Dec. 30 detention hearing.
The brothers face state charges in Florida stemming from three alleged sexual assaults, as well as federal charges in New York for luring, drugging, and violently raping dozens of women over more than a decade. They have denied the allegations through their attorneys, stating that any sex was consensual.
Oren and Alon Alexander are known for brokering deals on high-end properties in New York City and Miami for clients like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Their older brother Tal Alexander had proposed a $115 million bail package to secure their release pending trial in New York City, but it was rejected by a judge last week.
