he BioBuilder Educational Foundation has launched its new Learning Lab space at Allston Labworks, a mixed-use campus in Boston's Western Avenue neighborhood. This state-of-the-art facility will provide hands-on education and workforce training programs for local students, educators, and workers in the life sciences industry.
Located within the 585,000 square foot Allston Labworks development, the Learning Lab offers cutting-edge biotechnology training through specialty seminars, workshops, and lab practicals. The programming focuses on building scientific understanding in DNA and protein analysis, biomanufacturing, and synthetic biology. Funding for the capital equipment was provided by a $630,000 grant from the Massachusetts Life Science Center's STEM Equipment and Professional Development Grant Program.
According to Dr. Natalie Kuldell, founder of BioBuilder, "This expansion will make advanced science experiences accessible to more students in underserved populations, encouraging them to pursue careers in biotechnology." The Learning Lab is part of a broader effort to advance the local life sciences and bioeconomy by training future scientists, engineers, and skilled workers.
Allston Labworks aims to become a premier destination for life science innovation, offering research facilities, community spaces, and a collaborative environment. The development includes 534,000 square feet of lab space, retail areas, residential units, and public open spaces, enhancing the Western Avenue neighborhood and supporting the growth of the biotech sector in Boston.
