Amazon Expands Wynwood Office Space to 76,000 Square Feet

Amazon Expands Miami's Wynwood Office, Boosting Tech Hub Ambitions

A
mazon is expanding its office in Miami's Wynwood neighborhood, a move that aims to solidify the area as a tech hub. The e-commerce giant plans to occupy 75,500 square feet at the recently completed 12-story office building within the mixed-use Wynwood Plaza complex. This addition brings Amazon's total space in the complex to 100,800 square feet, up from 50,300 square feet leased in January.

Wynwood Plaza is a 1 million-square-foot development featuring a 266,000-square-foot office building, a 509-unit apartment building with amenities, and retail spaces. The project was developed by Oak Row Equities, L&L Holding Company, Shorenstein, and Claure Group. Claure Group, led by Marcelo Claure, plans to open its headquarters at Wynwood Plaza.

Other notable tenants in the complex include law firm Weitz & Luxenberg and Claure Group's minority stakeholder, Standard Spa, Miami Beach. Oak Row Equities has been actively investing in Miami, with a record $520 million contract to purchase a site in Brickell and plans for a 45-story apartment tower in downtown Miami.

Wynwood's reputation as a tech hub was fueled by significant leasing activity from out-of-state firms between 2020 and 2022. However, data shows that the influx of tech companies did not lead to substantial office leasing across South Florida, leading to a quieting of the hype surrounding the area.
