ropQwiz, a free mobile game that debuted in July, blends real‑estate listings with a quiz format, challenging players to guess the asking price of actual homes across the United States. The app offers a $350,000 grand prize that can be applied toward a home purchase, plus weekly rewards of $2,500 to help with rent or mortgage payments, turning a familiar television house‑hunt into an interactive, potentially life‑changing experience.
The idea for PropQwiz came from Jim Casey, the creator and CEO of Painless Productions. Before Zillow and other online listing services, Casey and his wife would walk neighborhood streets, collect flyers, and play a game of price guessing. “Everyone does it in some way,” Casey recalls. “Real estate makes people curious.” After turning similar concepts into television shows for networks such as HGTV, Discovery, and Disney+, Casey realized that a digital launch would reach a wider audience and allow rapid iteration. “The TV industry’s shrinking budgets made it hard to launch something truly unique,” he said. “Going digital let us test and iterate quickly.”
PropQwiz’s core gameplay centers on daily live events called PQ Daily. Players receive five clues—location, square footage, standout features, and more—and have 15 seconds to submit a price estimate. Accurate guesses earn PropTIX tokens, which count toward entries in the weekly drawing and the grand prize. Between live events, PQ Minis offers quick quizzes that keep users engaged and learning about the housing market for free.
The app was designed for the streaming generation, targeting Gen Z and young millennials who often feel homeownership is out of reach. In its first four months, the audience expanded to include anyone interested in real estate, from future buyers to current homeowners. Realtors benefit as well: players can save listings to a “My Faves” tab that links to Zillow or Redfin, giving agents new exposure without traditional leads.
After iterative updates based on player feedback—such as skipping to the end of mini‑games and other retention tweaks—the app has grown a loyal user base. The team plans to award the first grand‑prize winner before the end of December, with the announcement slated for early 2026.
PropQwiz is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Live games run daily at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET, while PQ Minis can be played anytime. The app turns curiosity about home values into a game‑show‑style experience that educates, entertains, and brings players closer to owning a home.
