eNova Homes plans to build 135 entry-level homes on a 17-acre property in northeast Antioch. The Concord-based developer has filed plans to construct the single-family homes between Vineyard Drive and the railroad tracks, north of East 18th Street. This project, dubbed Rancho Meadows, will replace an unharvested wine grape vineyard.
The development includes 129 market-rate, two-story houses and six affordable, single-story homes with attached granny flats. The property will feature picnic areas, a dog park, and a children's playground. The six single-story properties will be renter-occupied, low-income units through a partnership with the Yellow Roof Foundation, a Concord-based nonprofit.
DeNova purchased the land in 2022 for $2.1 million, or $123,529 an acre. The developer has applied to rezone the area from light industrial and offices to residential. A previous owner was unable to find a viable use for the property, according to the city.
The homes will face forward on each lot to maximize backyard space, with a mix of gray and olive-colored houses featuring gables and two-car garages. DeNova Homes has a history of developing affordable housing projects, including a 65-home subdivision in Martinez after years of legal battles and community opposition.
