W Property acquired two medical office buildings in Jupiter for a combined $17.8 million. One building, Jupiter Medical Park West on Old Dixie Highway, was sold by Healthcare Realty Trust for $10 million. The sale included the reassignment of the ground lease from Healthcare Realty Trust to AW Property and did not involve the land itself. The landlord is Jupiter Medical Center. In a separate deal, Healthcare Realty Trust sold the Jupiter Medical Center Plaza at Military Trail for $7.7 million.
AW Property invests in and renovates medical offices across the Southeast, led by managing director Brian Waxman. This year, AW Property also acquired a five-story medical facility in Hollywood for $11.5 million. Healthcare Realty Trust, led by CEO Todd Meredith, is a publicly traded real estate investment trust with 660 properties spanning 38.7 million square feet across the U.S.
Healthcare Realty Trust has sold several South Florida properties recently, including an assisted living facility in Sunrise and a Department of Veterans Affairs clinic also in Sunrise. The sale of medical offices in South Florida has been active due to the region's appeal as a destination for retirees and those seeking a healthy lifestyle.
