Backflip Secures $184M in Funding for Real Estate Tech Innovations

Embraer invests $70M in Texas airport, while Trilogy Studios opens virtual production stage in Fort Worth.

ackflip, a fintech real estate platform, has secured $30 million in equity and $154 million in asset-backed financing for residential transition loans through two private credit funds. This funding will enable entrepreneurs to acquire and renovate single-family homes using Backflip's technology and capital products. The platform provides data and financing strategies to help entrepreneurs scale their businesses.

    Backflip Co-founder Jake Rome said, "We're grateful for the trust of our capital partners and excited to offer improved capital products to our members revitalizing obsolete homes." Members analyze over $10 billion in properties each month through the Backflip app, with the company's 12-month origination volume growing 3x year-over-year to a $375 million run rate.

    Brazil-based aerospace company Embraer is expanding its maintenance, repair, and overhaul services network in the US by opening a service center at Perot Field Alliance Airport. The facility will create 250 high-quality jobs and bring up to $70 million of investment to Fort Worth and North Texas. Operations are expected to start in mid-2025, with a second hangar completed in 2027.

    Embraer anticipates increasing its capacity to service E-Jet customers by 53 percent through the new facility. The company's President and CEO Carlos Naufel said, "We're excited to receive final approval for this expansion of our MRO business supporting our continued investment in the US market."

    Trilogy Studios is launching a virtual production stage in Fort Worth, featuring a 23-foot ceiling and 157 feet wide space. The facility will also house two other volume stages: a commercial stage and a car processing stage. Trilogy Studios Director Joe Worth said, "Virtual production is at the heart of the entertainment landscape's transformation." The studio becomes the first major virtual production facility in the central US, positioned near DFW International Airport.
