Beal Family Donates $400,000 to Support New England's Fishing Industry

Related Beal invests $200,000 in New England's fishing community through FPSS and additional funding.

B
oston-based real estate developer Related Beal has invested $200,000 in New England's fishing community through two initiatives. The company donated $200,000 to Fishing Partnership Support Services (FPSS) and pledged an additional $200,000 towards the creation of a new Boston Fisheries Foundation museum.

The FPSS contribution will support the nonprofit's mission to provide essential services to fishing families across Greater Boston and the region, including access to affordable health insurance, safety training, and financial assistance. Related Beal's donation is part of its public benefits commitment tied to the Leiden Center II development in Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park.

FPSS anticipates tripling the impact of the donation through a Commercial Fishing Occupational Safety Training Project Grant administered by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In addition to supporting FPSS, Related Beal has committed $200,000 to establish a museum honoring Boston's fishing history in partnership with the Boston Fisheries Foundation. The museum will celebrate the city's maritime heritage and the industry's economic impact on the Seaport neighborhood.

"We're proud to support FPSS and the Boston Fisheries Foundation," said Stephen Faber, Executive Vice President at Related Beal. "As Boston grows and invests in new industries, it's essential that we also support the people who have made this area a working port for generations."

The Leiden Center II development is part of Related Beal's Innovation Square life sciences campus, which will serve as a research and manufacturing space for Vertex Pharmaceuticals. The project aims to promote Boston's maritime heritage and recognize the industry's significance in the Seaport neighborhood.

"We applaud Related Beal for recognizing the industry's economic impact and historical significance," said Robert Nagle, President of the Boston Fisheries Foundation. "We look forward to continued collaboration as a longtime community partner."
