entonville, Arkansas has experienced significant growth in recent years. Its population increased by 2.7% from 2022 to 2023, reaching 59,471 residents. This boom is attributed to the area's strong economic growth, driven by major corporations such as Walmart, J.B. Hunt, and Tyson Foods.
The real estate market has seen a notable surge in demand, with an 8.5% increase in home sales during the first half of 2024 compared to the previous year. Benton County and its neighboring counties recorded 4,799 home sales, a 2.7% increase from the second half of 2023.
Newly built homes make up 39.5% of the sold properties, according to Katlyn Munch, an agent with The Agency Bentonville. "We're at an all-time low inventory rate," said Kaala House, managing partner of The Agency Bentonville. "There's a lot of people holding on to their homes due to great interest rates and rising prices."
The area's growth has attracted new residents and businesses, including remote workers required by Walmart to relocate to the region. Projections estimate that the population could surpass one million by 2050, further driving demand for housing and commercial properties.
Despite challenges such as increased traffic and infrastructure development needs, Bentonville remains an attractive place to live and work, offering a high quality of life with excellent schools, parks, and recreational spaces. Its proximity to the Ozark Mountains provides easy access to outdoor activities like hiking, camping, and fishing.
As Bentonville continues to expand, it will face new opportunities and challenges. "Walmart has spent a ton of energy making this a very recruitable place," House said. The region's growth is expected to continue, with more businesses moving into the area due to its strong economy and high quality of life.
