As a portfolio company within Blackstone's Core+ Life Sciences Real Estate strategy, BioMed Realty achieved Real Estate Sector Leader status for Technology/Science in the 2024 Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) Real Estate Assessment.
The Company's submission earned strong results across both the Management and Performance components of the GRESB Assessment, with 4 Star ratings in the Standing Investment and Development benchmark reports. BioMed Realty has made significant strides in environmental sustainability, including expanding renewable electricity use across its portfolio and installing over 580 EV chargers in 2024. The Company has also implemented energy-efficiency projects, such as replacing HVAC cooling towers and LED retrofits, which have collectively saved more than 40.7 million kWh of electricity.
In addition to environmental initiatives, BioMed Realty prioritizes health, wellness, and inclusivity throughout its project life cycle. The Company is pursuing Fitwel Champion status and has earned LEED Gold certification across five properties in 2024. BioMed Realty also collaborates with tenants on sustainable development projects, such as the Portway Building in Cambridge, UK, which targets BREEAM Excellent and WiredScore Gold certifications.
