ichael Bloomberg, the former mayor, spent $8 million to block Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral bid, even after a recent cordial meeting. Despite doubts, Bloomberg L.P.—the media‑software firm he founded—continues to bet on New York’s future. Though no longer CEO, Bloomberg remains the company’s largest shareholder, and his views likely influence its multi‑billion‑dollar real‑estate strategy. Bloomberg LP just extended its nearly 500,000‑sq‑ft lease at 120 Park Ave. to 2040, following earlier extensions at 919 Third Ave. (924,876 sq‑ft) and 731 Lexington Ave. (900,000 sq‑ft). All three leases run through 2040, by which time Mamdani’s tenure will probably be a distant memory. Photo: Evan Agostini/Invision/AP
