Broward mother-son duo accused of using real estate scheme for money laundering.

Christopher "Chris" Jelavic confided in his mother about stress from running a crime operation, mentioning a woman who sent an accidental text.

M
argareta von Lambert, a real estate broker since 2018, and her son Christopher "Chris" Jelavic are facing charges of money laundering and deriving support from prostitution in Broward County. According to a 100-page arrest warrant, detectives discovered that the duo's real estate enterprises and shell companies were created to launder earnings from a local sex industry business.

Detectives used public advertising, confidential informants, undercover operations, and surveillance to gather evidence. They identified Jelavic as the registered agent of three escort services: Pretty Woman Escorts, Almost Angels Escorts, and A All Right Now! Escorts Inc. The operation was centered at a commercial building in Pompano Beach, which Jelavic's company purchased in 2005.

Detectives monitored the property, collecting garbage and tracking visitors, and found that sex workers earned 55% of $400 hourly fees, while Jelavic received 45%. Drivers for the escorts earned around $25 per trip. To establish a money laundering scheme, detectives identified real estate properties, shell companies, and bank accounts with major banks.

Undercover operations revealed real estate listings for mansions with private pools and tennis courts, and surveillance suggested plans to leave the country to avoid prosecution. Deputies arrested Jelavic on September 11 and Lambert on September 12. They will remain in jail until they prove that their bail source is unrelated to the alleged crimes. If released on bond, they must abide by strict conditions, including wearing a GPS monitor and surrendering their passports.
